Advanced Emissions Solutions Amends Limited Duration Stockholder Rights Plan

Threshold Increased to 20%; Company Expects to Become Current With Its Filings in Early 1Q 2016

HIGHLANDS RANCH, CO--(Marketwired - December 16, 2015) - Advanced Emissions Solutions, Inc. (OTC PINK: ADES) (the "Company" or "ADES") today announced that its Board of Directors has voted to increase the threshold of its stockholder rights plan (the "Rights Plan") that was implemented in February 2015. Under the amended Rights Plan, the purchase rights distributed to stockholders in February 2015 will now become exercisable only if a person or group becomes an "Acquiring Person" by acquiring beneficial ownership of 20% or more of the Company's common stock (up from 10%). The Rights Plan will expire on February 1, 2016, unless redeemed or terminated by the Board of Directors before that date.

The Company expects to be current with all of its SEC filings by early Q1 2016 and to file its 2015 Form 10-K on-time in March 2016. Upon filing its Forms 10-Q for 2015, the Company intends to apply for relisting on the NASDAQ Stock Market.
