Haskell, who brings to Cadwalader nearly 30 years of practice in the energy field, is one of the leading Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) practitioners in the energy bar.  "We are thrilled to welcome a lawyer of Mark's stature and reputation to Cadwalader," said Pat Quinn, Cadwalader's Managing Partner.  "His addition underscores the firm's commitment to further build a preeminent energy practice to meet the growing needs of our clients across a range of markets."

Haskell's practice focuses on energy compliance, enforcement litigation and regulatory advice associated with complex natural gas and oil projects. He represents numerous leading natural gas and power marketers, end users, local distribution companies, and major producers in a broad range of FERC regulatory matters. These matters include FERC investigations, participation by shippers in proceedings involving the rates and services of major interstate pipelines that transport gas, oil and natural gas liquids across state lines, and regulatory advice in connection with acquisitions and divestitures.  He also advises sponsors and participants in shale gas and LNG infrastructure projects. Haskell is widely recognized as a leading energy enforcement defense and regulatory lawyer by Chambers USA, Chambers Global, The Best Lawyers in America and DC Super Lawyers

Brett Snyder has joined the firm with Mark Haskell.  Brett counsels leading energy companies on compliance with the federal regulation of natural gas, oil, and natural gas liquids transportation and sales and the negotiation of related commercial agreements.  He advises new complex energy infrastructure projects, such as liquefied natural gas (LNG) terminal projects, and manages all aspects of FERC and DOE authorizations. Brett represents natural gas, oil, and electric clients in complex administrative and rate and tariff litigation before FERC, and in public and non-public investigations, regulatory audits, and self-report proceedings before FERC's Office of Enforcement, the CFTC, and the FTC.

"Mark's and Brett's FERC enforcement defense, compliance and regulatory experience will enhance the services that we provide to our clients and reinforce our profile in the energy industry," said Paul Pantano, Jr., the head of Cadwalader's Energy and Commodities Group. "Their skills complement our existing strengths in energy enforcement defense and regulation. We are very excited to have attorneys of this caliber join our team."

"Cadwalader offers a wonderful platform to further develop and fortify my practice," said Haskell.  "I am excited to join such a robust and highly regarded team that is guiding clients on the challenges facing the energy sector. I look forward to growing the firm's market-leading FERC enforcement defense and regulatory practice and using my years of experience to serve our clients."

Earlier this month, Cadwalader added Tania Perez to its Energy and Commodities Practice in Houston. Perez focuses on transactions involving the development of energy infrastructure, and particularly the FERC regulatory aspects of those transactions. The addition of Haskell, Perez and Snyder give Cadwalader one of the leading FERC regulatory practices in the country.

Cadwalader's leading Energy and Commodities Practice has broad and deep experience in all forms of complex regulatory, compliance, transactional, investigations, and enforcement defense matters involving energy, metals, and agricultural commodities and related listed and over-the-counter derivatives.  The team provides counsel to leading U.S. and international financial institutions; investment funds; oil, power and natural gas companies, producers, and developers; industrial and commercial customers; trade associations; commodity marketers; exchanges and clearing organizations.
