Canada’s top energy regulator says the country’s crude oil production will continue to grow till at least 2040 even if key pipeline projects do not proceed and despite government policies to reduce greenhouse gas emissions.

The NEB forecasts Brent crude prices to average US$80 per barrel by 2020 and US$105 per barrel by 2040 in its base case, and US$55 per barrel in 2020 and US$80 per barrel in 2040 in its low oil-price scenario.
