Energy Expert Dr. Glenn R. George Rejoins NERA Economic Consulting
NERA Economic Consulting, a leading global provider of economic advice
and analysis in business, legal, and regulatory matters, today announced
that Dr.
Glenn R. George has rejoined NERA as a Senior Vice President in the
firm’s Global Energy, Environment, and Network Industries Practice. Dr.
George was previously a Vice President with NERA from 2006 to 2010.
Dr. George is based in NERA’s Washington, DC office, where he advises
clients on the economics of electric power, natural gas, and related
markets as they evolve in response to political, regulatory, and
technological change. Drawing on his background as an engineer and an
economist, he applies unparalleled expertise in energy policy,
regulation, and technologies—generation, storage, efficiency and demand
response, reliability, and resource and transmission planning—to the
emerging issues facing utility companies, their regulators, and
investors.
“It is my pleasure to welcome Glenn back to NERA on behalf of my
colleagues,” said NERA President Dr.
Lawrence Wu. “Glenn’s background as a seasoned economist,
engineering expert, and business consultant will provide NERA clients in
the energy sector with unique and highly specialized insights and
solutions to help them navigate the rapidly evolving regulatory and
competitive environment these firms are facing. He is a great addition
to NERA’s Energy, Environment, and Network Industries Practice.”
“Thank you to my NERA colleagues for the warm welcome,” said Dr. George.
“NERA’s standing as the preeminent provider of economic and regulatory
expertise in the energy and environment space made rejoining the firm an
incredibly exciting opportunity for me. I look forward to working with
NERA’s high-caliber roster of global experts as we deliver rigorous
economic thinking and quantitative analysis with practical solutions to
our clients.”
Dr. George has three decades of experience in the global energy sector
as an engineer, policymaker, entrepreneur, investment banker, economic
consultant, regulatory expert, and strategist. His areas of
specialization include rate design, regulatory strategy, valuation,
asset securitization, risk assessment, energy efficiency, renewables,
nuclear power, business transformation, power market design and
monitoring, and damage calculation. His management consulting work
addresses strategy, transactions, business transformation, regulatory
issues, and complex commercial disputes, especially involving
construction, sale, valuation, licensing, and operation of power plants,
transmission and distribution systems, oil and gas facilities (including
LNG export terminals), and other infrastructure. He is a sought-after
analyst, speaker, expert witness, and consultant.
Dr. George applies interdisciplinary approaches to formulating and
implementing public policy, managing and consulting to organizations,
developing deep industry insight, and helping transform organizations.
He has consulted in a variety of industries, including financial
services, natural gas and LNG, petroleum, chemicals, transportation,
nuclear vendors, renewable resources, and power generation,
transmission, and distribution. He has worked extensively in the US,
Canada, the EU, and East Asia. His client and other relationships
include corporations, government agencies, regulators, nonprofit
organizations, and especially investor-owned utilities.
Dr. George holds a PhD in public policy (with a concentration in energy
economics and regulation) from Harvard University, and an MBA and a BS
