FirstEnergy Names Jennifer Geyer Assistant Corporate Secretary

Edward Udovich to retire after nearly 40 years with the company

AKRON, Ohio, Dec. 15, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- The FirstEnergy Corp. (NYSE: FE) Board of Directors has elected Jennifer L. Geyer assistant corporate secretary, effective Dec. 27.  She succeeds Edward J. Udovich, who has elected to retire. 

Geyer has been manager, Corporate, since 2011, with responsibilities including the administration of FirstEnergy's equity compensation plans, insider trading compliance, related regulatory filings and governance matters.  She began her career with the company in 1996 in the Marketing Information Center, and held a series of corporate, back-office and sales roles before being promoted to manager of Business Analytics in 2008.  Geyer holds a Bachelor of Science degree in sales and marketing from The University of Akron and a master's degree in business from Malone University.

Udovich joined Ohio Edison in 1976 in the Customer Accounting Department.  He served in the Controllers and Budgeting Departments prior to holding various positions in the Corporate Department.  He directed shareholder services at Ohio Edison for many years and was elected assistant corporate secretary in 1998, shortly after FirstEnergy was created from the merger of Ohio Edison and Centerior Energy. 

Udovich graduated summa cum laude from Youngstown State University in 1977 with a Bachelor of Science degree in business administration.  He served as director and president of the Midwest Securities Transfer Association and president of the Ohio Chapter of the Society of Corporate Secretaries and Governance Professionals.  Udovich is a member of the Society of Corporate Secretaries and Governance Professionals, the Knights of Columbus and the Shareholder Services Association.  He also is a director of the FirstEnergy Family Credit Union and was previously a director of the International Institute of Akron.
