IACMI and ACMA Combine Forces to Grow the Composite Industry

The Institute for Advanced Composites Manufacturing Innovation (IACMI) and The American Composite Manufacturers Association (ACMA) have entered a new agreement to work together to develop and promote composites

KNOXVILLE, Tenn., Oct. 27, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- The Institute for Advanced Composites Manufacturing Innovation (IACMI) and the American Composites Manufacturers Association (ACMA) have entered into a unique partnership agreement. Both organizations recognize their complementary skills and mission to grow and foster the composites industry. The agreement outlines ways in which the two organizations will work together to both support membership development in both organizations and promote the composites industry.

Tom Dobbins, ACMA President and Craig Blue, IACMI CEO signed a partnership agreement and will be collaborating on composites training and workforce development initiatives.

Specifically, IACMI and ACMA will align their interests to:

  • Partner on workforce development efforts, including the support and promotion of the ACMA Certification Composites Technician Program (CCT)
  • Agree to have IACMI present at ACMA meetings and events, and to collaborate on joint events on selected topics
  • Explore other opportunities to collaborate on different topics, such as composites recycling, modeling and simulation
  • Promote memberships in each other's organizations

"IACMI has brought together unprecedented commitment from state governments, industry and research institutions committed to leveraging their resources and technology to develop a workforce, create jobs and increase global manufacturing competitiveness in the rapidly growing use of advanced composites," said Dr. Craig Blue, CEO of IACMI.  IACMI, a public-private partnership created as part of the National Network for Manufacturing Innovation, focuses on developing lower-cost, higher-speed, and more efficient manufacturing and recycling processes for advanced composite materials.
