Iran qualifies international companies from CEPSA to Wintershall to take part in oil and gas tenders

Iran has qualified 29 international companies to bid in tenders for oil and natural gas development projects as the company seeks foreign investment to revitalize its industry following the end of international sanctions. The companies approved for tenders include those from Germany, France, Italy, Norway, Malaysia, Russia, Austria, Thailand, Japan, Poland, the Netherlands, the UK, Spain and China.

Most of the companies were involved in Iran’s oil industry prior to the implementation of sanctions. Newcomers approved for future tenders include Wintershall, Maersk, DNO and CEPSA.

NIOC will hold its first tender in late January to seek partners for a project to develop the South Azadegan oil field, reports Bloomberg. Shell and Malaysia’s Petroliam Nasional both signed preliminary agreements last month to conduct development studies at Azadegan and other oil fields.
