Johnson Wagner named golf ambassador for Shell

Houston -OCTOBER 14, 2015. With the start of the 2015-2016 PGA TOUR season, Shell Oil Company has announced three-time PGA TOUR winner Johnson Wagner as the latest addition to its esteemed list of sports ambassadors. In his role as golf ambassador, Wagner will represent Shell throughout the season during a variety of community, business and golf events. Since his win at the Shell Houston Open in 2008, Wagner has also celebrated victories at the Mayakoba Golf Classic and the Sony Open.

"Shell has always had a special place in my heart, and I'm proud to represent the organization this season," Wagner said. "I've been working on my game and am ready to compete at the highest level. I'm also looking forward to next spring and the 2016 Shell Houston Open, a tournament that does so much to give back to the community, something I admire and respect."

Wagner, a husband and father of two, is a graduate of Virginia Tech. He is actively involved in his local community, supporting The First Tee® of Charlotte and the Junior Golf program.

"Shell's relationship with Johnson has strengthened over the years," said Marvin Odum, president of Shell Oil Company. "Johnson's values of integrity, respect and courage align with those of Shell, and we are excited as a company to welcome him to our family, where he'll be supported by thousands of Shell employees around the globe."

Shell realizes the importance of golf in building communities and strengthening relationships, and because of that, Shell has invested in golf since the 1960s, when it sponsored Shell's Wonderful World of Golf - one of the first nationally televised golf programs.

In 2016, Shell will celebrate its 25th anniversary as title sponsor of the Shell Houston Open, to be played March 28-April 3, 2016, at Golf Club of Houston - Tournament Course. Since 1992, the tournament has raised more than $58 million for local charitable organizations. Next month, leadership from Shell and Houston Golf Association will announce the community impact dollars raised in 2015.
