Longview Power Completes 21-Day Reliability Testing, Demonstrates Full Rehabilitation of the Plant

Testing completion positions the Longview Power plant to achieve best-in-class operational and environmental performance going forward

MAIDSVILLE, W.Va., Dec. 14, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- Longview Power today announced it has completed its 21-Day reliability test that ran from November 17 through December 8, 2015, demonstrating that the plant is fully rehabilitated with state of the art performance. This testing rigorously evaluated the major outage work completed this year that addressed design and construction issues that previously impacted the reliability of the plant.  Longview is now positioned to achieve best-in-class operational, cost and environmental performance.

Longview Power's reliability testing met or exceeded all performance targets. During the test, Longview Power achieved a 99.5% equivalent availability factor, the power industries' measure of reliability,  while operating at 703 MW (net) above its previous full output level, in each case exceeding the test requirements.  Heat rate testing, which measures a plant's efficiency, established that the plant has a market-leading heat rate of 8675 MBtu/KWhr, exceeding the test levels.  The results also highlight that the plant produces significantly lower emission levels than its peers and meets or exceeds all current regulatory emissions standards.
