CALGARY, Nov. 24, 2015 /CNW/ - On November 25, 2015, Michael Cleland will receive the 2015 Canadian Energy Person of the Year at a gala award ceremony in Calgary.

Mr. Cleland is the sixteenth recipient of the Energy Council of Canada's annual award for energy leadership.  This award recognizes and pays tribute to a Canadian energy leader who has made a significant impact at national and local levels. Mr. Cleland served as the Assistant Deputy Minister, Energy Sector, Natural Resources Canada, and at senior executive level in two of Canada's leading energy industry associations: President and CEO, Canadian Gas Association, and Senior Vice President, Canadian Electricity Association.  Recently, he has informed ongoing dialogue on major energy issues through his work in public policy research at the Canada West Foundation and CERI.
