MISSISSAUGA, ON, Oct. 19, 2015 /CNW/ - Canadian waste resources management leader Emterra Group and partners, US-based GAIN Clean Fuel and C.A.T. (formerly Canadian American Transportation Inc.), are opening the largest CNG fuelling station in Canada that is open to the public.

  • $50 million investment – the CNG facility will provide cleaner-burning fuel to Emterra's CNG-powered waste and recycling collection trucks to be used in the Region of Peel starting January 2016. (Note: investment also includes land purchase and upgrades to maintenance facility to make it CNG-certified.)
  • Encouraging other fleet operators to 'go green' – the 'fast-fill' station will be open to other fleets and operators of CNG vehicles and the public, expanding opportunities for the transportation sector in and around the GTA to 'go greener' using a lower cost fuel in their operations, helping to make the Ontario trucking businesses more competitive and sustainable.
  • CNG reduces greenhouse gas emissions by about 20% – the CNG fuelling station will contribute to the local green economy and to reductions in greenhouse gas emissions (GHG). CNG trucks contribute to cleaner air by reducing GHG emissions by 20% compared to diesel and generate 90% less noise pollution in our communities.
  • Emterra's fourth CNG fuelling station – With the opening of this new fuelling station in Ontario, Emterra continues its legacy of green initiatives across the country with CNG fuelling stations in Winnipeg, MB and in Chilliwack and Victoria, BC.
