New Flyer announces Crookston union ratification of new collective agreement

WINNIPEG, Jan. 21, 2016 /CNW/ - (TSX: NFI) (TSX: NFI.DB.U) New Flyer of America Inc., a subsidiary of New Flyer Industries Inc. ("New Flyer" or the "Company"), the leading manufacturer of heavy-duty transit buses and motor coaches in North America, is pleased to announce that the members of the Communication Workers of America collective bargaining unit at New Flyer's Crookston, MN facility have ratified a new collective bargaining agreement.  This new five-year contract is effective January 1, 2016 and will expire on December 31, 2020 and replaces the previous five-year agreement that expired on December 31, 2015.

The new agreement provides annual wage increases of 2.25% in years one and two, 2.50% in year three and 2.75% in years four and five of the contract.  The collective bargaining agreement also provides certain wage scale improvements for members.

The Crookston plant's unionized workforce represents approximately five percent of New Flyer's total workforce in the United States and Canada.
