Phigenics' Smart Water Leadership Summit, Charlotte April 25-26, Gathers Facility Leaders to Discuss Managing the Risk of Legionellosis and Optimizing Water Use

CHARLOTTE, N.C., Feb. 2, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- The 4th Annual Smart Water Leadership Summit, produced by Phigenics, LLC, will be held April 25-26, 2016 at the UNC Charlotte Center City campus in Charlotte, NC. The Summit brings together top leaders in building water management to collaborate and exchange knowledge on topics related to solving the most demanding needs of protecting human health while conserving water and energy.

With 12 dead and over 120 hospitalized from the South Bronx Legionnaires' Disease outbreak, California facing its worst drought, unsafe drinking water conditions in Flint, MI and water costs rising 33% since 2010, the need for corporations to more comprehensively manage water across their portfolios is at an all-time high.

According to Bill McCoy, Ph.D., Chief Technology Officer of Phigenics and Program Committee Chair for the Smart Water Leadership Summit, "Leaders in facility management who have accountability and budgetary responsibility must ensure water in their facilities is safe and used efficiently. This Summit is for facility managers to share and develop best practices for comprehensive water management programs."

On Monday, April 25, the Summit will feature an optional half-day training course on ANSI/ASHRAE Standard 188-2015 "Legionellosis: Risk Management for Building Water Systems," the new best practice for water safety. The Standard, at a minimum, requires building owners to establish and practice a water management program for buildings with specific characteristics such as cooling towers or evaporative condensers, ornamental fountains, whirlpool spas, misters, atomizers, air washers and humidifiers. On Tuesday, April 26, leaders in facility management will present current research, thoughts, lessons learned and best practices on implementing the Standard and identifying opportunities to conserve water, save energy and reduce costs.
