Baker Hughes rig count for the week ended June 19, 2015
The number of rigs drilling for oil and gas in the United States fell to 857 in the week ended June 19, 2015, a decline of just 2 rigs from last week. The 2 rig decline represents just a 0.3% decline in overall U.S. rig counts, and is the smallest decline in week-over-week rig counts so far in 2015, both in terms of absolute rigs and as a percentage of rig totals.
The number of rigs drilling for oil declined to 631, down 4 from last week. The number of rigs drilling for gas totaled 223, up 2 from last week’s total, according to the most recent Baker Hughes (ticker: BHI) rig count.
Utah added 2 rigs to its count, while Alaska, North Dakota and Pennsylvania each added one. Louisiana, New Mexico and Oklahoma saw the largest declines this week, losing 2 rigs per state. Ohio and Wyoming each saw one fewer rig this week as well.
