Baker Hughes rig count for the week ended May 12, 2015: 859
The total number of active rigs drilling in the United States fell to 859 for the week ended June 12, 2015, according to Baker Hughes (ticker: BHI). For the week ended December 12, 2014, the U.S. rig count was at 1,893, marking a decline of 1,034 rigs in the U.S. in just six months.
The total number of rigs drilling for oil fell 1% to 635, while rigs drilling for gas maintained their relative stability, losing just one rig since last week, and falling to 221 rigs across the U.S.
Louisiana and Oklahoma were the only states to add rigs this week, each seeing one additional rig added to their fleets. Alaska, Colorado, Kansas, New Mexico, Ohio, Texas, Utah and West Virginia all saw their counts lowered by one rig each.
