Fort Worth, TX - September 22, 2015 - Superior Silica Sands LLC ("SSS") is pleased to announce the introduction of a unique, technically advanced proppant to the oil and gas industry. This new proppant, brand named "SandGuard(TM)", will improve the handling, inner-basin management and job-site implementation of the hydraulic fracturing of oil and gas wells. With a SandGuard treatment facility in Barron County, Wisconsin, SSS will have the ability to enhance the already strong qualities of its Northern White silica sand as a more protected proppant soon to be marketed to all major North American basins.
By incorporating ArrMaz SandTec(TM) coating technology into the new SandGuard product line, SSS will begin commercial sales in December 2015. The treated sand production capacity is up to 650 tons per hour of finished product. The environmentally-friendly SandGuard product incurs reduced degradation compared to untreated sand, resulting in the minimization of dust to the customers, employees and contractors who manage the sand through the supply chain and at the well site. Additionally, the SandGuard product improves operational efficiencies since it reduces the need to use bulky mechanical dust control systems. The SandGuard product has proven to significantly reduce dust generation during handling as exhibited from numerous full scale field trials. These trials by major service companies have seen superior handling capabilities and no negative impact or issues with frac fluid compatibility.
"The introduction and implementation of SandGuard is a unique value-add addition to the already strong product line that SSS offers to the oil and gas market. We see the ability to protect the integrity of the best-in-class products produced by our Wisconsin operations as consistent with two of our ongoing objectives. First, this technology furthers our goal of providing a safer work environment for our customers, vendors and employees who manage our production-to-market services" said Rick Shearer, President and CEO of both SSS and its parent company, Emerge Energy Services LP ("Emerge Energy"). "Second, this technology brings economic value to the industry that will have long-lasting impact from the production line to the well site. This is an exciting product launch for SSS which is an initial strategic step in positioning our company as an industry leader in proppant technology."
"We are proud to work with Superior Silica Sands to introduce ArrMaz SandTec coating technology to the oil & gas industry. By combining our long history in dust control and coating technology with SSS's strong position as a proppant supplier, we are providing the industry with another way to improve safety and drive efficiency" said Dave Keselica, CEO of ArrMaz.
