Tecogen Introduces Bold New Inverter Technology with INV-100e+

Now meets the rapid blackstart requirement for Type 10 Emergency Power Supply Systems

WALTHAM, Mass., Jan. 26, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- Tecogen® Inc. (NASDAQ: TGEN) is pleased to announce the launch of its latest groundbreaking innovation in intelligent grid-connective design.

"The new InVerde® e+ is a real testament to Tecogen's devotion to continuous product improvement," said Robert Panora Tecogen's President and Chief Operating Officer. "This product builds on the success of our first generation inverter product and reinforces our goal to be at the forefront of the industry, providing our customers with the most advanced clean energy technologies available in the marketplace."

The new INV-100e+ builds on patented inverter technology to provide:

  • Best in class CHP electrical efficiency of 34%.
  • Patented engine control technology for improved stability and load turndown, permitting the load on the equipment to be turned down to just 10% (generating just 10kW of electrical output), thus allowing customers the flexibility to operate their equipment in a wider load range while maintaining high efficiency.
  • DC input option, facilitating battery or solar array integration.
  • Superior 10 second rapid start after blackout.
  • Requires just 4 inches of water column gas pressure, eliminating the need for costly pressure enhancement equipment.
  • Customized power electronics technology and integrated Microgrid hardware allow for simplified installation.
  • An updated microprocessor control system with integrated balance of plant control capability
  • Quieter operation for noise pollution reduction.
  • Touchscreen interactive control panels for ease of operation, monitoring, and service.

The efficiency boost resulting from cutting edge inverter technology, innovative power control, and a new and improved engine, will result in enhanced energy savings superior to all other comparable combined heat and power (CHP) products on the market today.  The battery input capability is also a major addition to the product's technology, allowing for seamless transfer during an outage, improved Microgrid efficiency, engine service redundancy, and easy integration of Tecogen's CHP technology with renewable energy installations. Along with battery connectivity, solar PV arrays may now directly connect to the unit, providing power conditioning for the array and eliminating the need for an additional solar inverter.

The InVerde e+ now meets the fast 10 second blackstart requirement for Type 10 Emergency Power Supply Systems (EPSS) as per NFPA 110.  Also, unlike other CHP equipment, the e+ requires just four inches of water column gas pressure. This capability eliminates the need for installation of other pressure enhancement equipment, allowing units fitted with the e+ inverter to connect to virtually any standard gas pipe without modification of the gas supply line.

Available for Spring 2016 on the InVerde® line of combined heat and power modules, the INV-100e+ has obtained both UL2200 and UL 1741 certifications, meeting the highest safety standards for engine generator assemblies and inverters. With faster production lead times and longer service intervals, Tecogen's new InVerde e+ is a natural fit for building managers looking for a hassle-free, economic, and environmentally friendly solution to their heating and power needs.
