MONTREAL, Jan. 28, 2016 /CNW Telbec/ - The Metallurgy & Materials Society of the Canadian Institute of Mining, Metallurgy and Petroleum (MetSoc of CIM) is pleased to announce the Call for Award nominations 2016. 

The Recognition of excellence program at MetSoc aims to honour those members of the Society who have excelled through their outstanding achievements and contributions to metallurgy and related fields.  The program includes award categories from Environment achievements to contributions as an academic or research scientist.  MetSoc of CIM's awards program is supported and sponsored by Hatch, Rio Tinto, Teck Resources, and XPS Consulting & Testwork Services, a Glencore company.

"Over the years, many people and organizations have contributed significantly to the development of the Canadian Metals Industry. Although there are a myriad ways to recognize these contributions, as members of the Metallurgy and Materials Society (MetSoc) of the Canadian Institute of Mining and Metallurgy (CIM) our most effective method of publicly recognizing these contributions is through the presentation of either a MetSoc or a MetSoc section award" says James Budac, VP MetSoc Board, Manager at Sherritt International Corporation.

Nominations can be made online at http://www.metsoc.org/awards/ until March 1, 2016.  Information about the award and the different criteria is also described on the website.

The recipients will be announced in June 2016 and will be recognized in person during the 55^th Annual Conference of Metallurgists (COM 2016) at the MetSoc Awards Banquet on September 12^th, 2016 in Quebec City, Canada.
