Ballard Power Systems Inc. (NASDAQ: BLDP) shares closed up 18.88 percent on Friday with nearly 14 million shares traded. The stock had one of the biggest volume advances on the NASDAQ. Last week the company announced the signing of a non-binding Memorandum of Understanding, or MOU, with Van Hool NV, Europe's fourth largest bus manufacturer, in support of the manufacture and further deployment of zero emission fuel cell buses. By February 2014 the companies plan to jointly respond to last week's call for proposals under the EU Hydrogen Fuel Cell Joint Undertaking, and also plan to jointly respond to other future calls for proposals under the Horizon 2020 program.

Minerco Resources, Inc. (OTC: MINE) shares closed down 32.14 percent this past Friday making it one of the biggest percentage losers in the OTC market. The stock traded about 140 million shares. The Company released its most recent product updates for all of its brands: LEVEL 5™, COFFEE BOOST™ and VitaminFIZZ®.

Vaalco Energy Inc. (NYSE: EGY) shares closed up 9.32 percent on Friday with nearly 2 million shares traded. The stock was one of the biggest percentage climbers in the NYSE. The gains came after Angolan authorities cleared the oil and gas exploration company and partner Sonangol to start drilling off the African nation's coast.

Geron Corporation (NASDAQ: GERN) shares closed down a modest 0.17 percent on Friday with about 22.5 million shares traded. The stock jumped as much as 18% before retracing on Friday. The move came after an encouraging study by the Mayo Clinic demonstrated the effectiveness of Geron's experimental myelofibrosis drug, imetelstat.
