$1,031,953 raised sets new milestone in 2015

CHATHAM, ON, Nov. 18, 2015 /CNW/ - Union Gas employees and retirees showed their support by surpassing last year's United Way campaign total and raising a record $1,031,953 in 2015.

Announcing this record campaign total  at the company's head office in Chatham, Steve Baker, president, Union Gas acknowledged employees and volunteers for their generosity and hard work during this years United Way campaign, which incorporated the theme of Give Today, Improve Tomorrow.

"I'd like to thank employees, retirees and volunteers who worked tirelessly to make 2015 another banner year," said Baker. "Year-after-year they bring their drive and dedication to raise funds for the United Way and are a shining example of people working together selflessly to help enrich our communities."

All individual donations made during the campaign, which is led by a dedicated group of volunteers, are matched dollar for dollar by Union Gas' parent company, Spectra Energy – doubling the funds raised.

Funds will go to support 25 United Way organizations across the company's service area with each addressing the needs of the community they service with the mission to improve lives and build community by engaging individuals and mobilizing collective action.

For over 100 years, Union Gas has been privileged to work in more than 400 Ontario communities. In addition to providing natural gas delivery services for homes and businesses, Union Gas has contributed to the province through economic investments, available jobs, municipal taxes, energy efficiency programs, volunteer hours, charitable giving and sponsorships.
