Weatherford Canada Receives Gold Award for Safest Employer

BAAR, Switzerland, Oct. 30, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- Weatherford Canada, a Weatherford International plc (NYSE: WFT) subsidiary, announced today that it has received the Gold Award for Canada's Safest Employer in the Oil and Gas Industry category and the Silver Award for Canada's Best Safety Culture in the All Industries category. This follows a Silver Award in 2014 for Canada's Safest Employers.

Weatherford is committed to the safety of employees, clients, and stakeholders, pursuing the highest standards of excellence in all business practices around the globe. The Company's Service Quality, Health, Safety, Security, and Environment (QHSSE) programs ensure consistent and reliable operations while managing risk for clients.

Weatherford HSE is anchored by three key programs:

  • Eight Gems: The GEMS (Getting Everyone Managing Safety) program is designed to educate employees and empower them to intervene when they see unsafe acts.
  • Four Tenets: The Program emphasizes the importance of protecting and enhancing the environments we operate and live in, and encourages employees to take an active role through better management of waste, water, land, and energy resources.
  • HSE Excellence: In an effort to create an incident-free workplace, the program engages key leaders around the globe to create increased awareness regarding safety initiatives and the importance of behavior-based safety.

Canada's Best Safety Culture Award recognizes organizations with the strongest safety cultures that permeate the workplace itself and extends well into the community.

"Our employees play a key role in achieving and continually advancing our safety culture. Together, we will continue to stay true to our commitment to Safety Always," said Weatherford Canada Vice President David Reed.

Canada's Safest Employers awards are presented by Canadian Occupational Safety magazine, a Thomson Reuters business. Launched in 2011, the awards recognize Canadian companies with outstanding accomplishments in promoting the health and safety of their workers.
