Fidelity has appointed Barings’ Sonja Laud to serve as its new head of equity and oversee its equity income team, the company has announced.

Laud joins the firm from Barings where had she managed several multi-asset funds and was a member of the asset allocation group.

She joined Barings from Schroders amid a shake-up at the company, which saw the departure of three senior managers to join Pictet.

Laud had worked as a fund manager for eight years at Schroders where she managed global, European and UK equity funds focusing on high dividend stocks.

In her new role, she will be responsible for Fidelity’s equity income investment team which has around £12 billion (€14 billion) in assets under management. She will report to Paras Anand, who is CIO equities Europe at Fidelity.

Commenting on the appointment, Anand said: ‘Our equity income funds have become increasingly popular among our clients in recent years as they continue to search for yield in today’s low interest rate environment.’
