Ardagh Group, Glass - North America Remains the Only U.S. Glass Container Manufacturer to Earn ENERGY STAR(R) Plant Certifications

MUNCIE, IN--(Marketwired - July 12, 2016) - Ardagh Group, Glass - North America, a division of Ardagh Group and a leading producer of glass containers for the food and beverage industries in the United States, was awarded four ENERGY STAR® plant certifications for superior energy performance from the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) -- the only U.S. glass container manufacturer to earn this recognition.

The four Ardagh Group manufacturing facilities, located in Bridgeton, N.J.; Dunkirk, Ind.; Madera, Calif.; and Milford, Mass., have demonstrated best-in-class energy performance and, on average, perform within the top 25 percent nationwide for energy efficiency when compared to similar plants across the country.

Meeting strict energy efficiency performance levels set by the EPA, Ardagh Group's four recognized glass facilities have improved energy performance by upgrading and optimizing furnaces, utilizing recycled glass, installing energy-efficient lighting fixtures and repairing air compressor leaks, among several other energy-saving initiatives.

Since 2010, nine Ardagh Group, Glass - North America facilities have received 26 certifications.

"Ardagh Group is honored to remain the only U.S. glass container manufacturer to earn the prestigious ENERGY STAR plant certifications," said John Riordan, President and CEO of Ardagh Group, Glass - North America. "We are committed to reducing the environmental impact of our business by upgrading and optimizing our manufacturing operations and focusing on recycling programs at our facilities, illustrating our dedication to environmental responsibility and our goal of being the glass packaging supplier of choice."

ENERGY STAR was introduced by the EPA in 1992 as a voluntary, market-based partnership to reduce greenhouse gas emissions through energy efficiency. Today, the ENERGY STAR label can be found on more than 60 different products, as well as new homes and commercial and industrial buildings that meet strict energy efficiency specifications set by the EPA. Over the past twenty years, American families and businesses have saved a total of nearly $230 billion on utility bills and prevented more than 1.7 billion metric tons of greenhouse gas emissions with the help of ENERGY STAR.

"Improving the energy efficiency of our nation's industrial facilities is critical to protecting our environment," said Jean Lupinacci, Chief of the ENERGY STAR Commercial & Industrial Branch. "From the plant floor to the board room, organizations are leading the way by making their facilities more efficient and earning EPA's ENERGY STAR certification."
