Booth 517 at NRG Park in Houston on Oct. 20th and 21st

1st Detect Corporation, a subsidiary of Astrotech (Nasdaq: ASTC), will exhibit its line of chemical detection and analysis instrumentation at the Gulf Coast Conference (GCC), the premier petrochemical, oil services, and environmental conference, being held Oct. 20th and 21st at the NRG Park in Houston at Booth 517. GCC will host Agilent Technologies, PerkinElmer, Siemens Industry Inc. and Thermo Fisher Scientific among the 3000 total participants representing all 50 states and 27 countries.

1st Detect will contribute five of the conference’s technical programs:

  • Monitoring Fugitive Emissions with a Miniature Ion Trap Mass Spectrometer
    • Tuesday, Oct. 20th - 9:50 AM - Room 607 Abstract # 198 - 20 minute Paper Presentation
    • Presenting a lightweight, miniature ion trap mass spectrometer capable of actively measuring fugitive volatile organic compounds (VOCs) emissions at the ppb level in real time
    • Routinely emitted by petrochemical refineries
  • Online Process Monitoring Solution for Detection of Compressed Air Contaminants
    • Wednesday, Oct. 21st - 9:30 AM - Exhibit Hall Abstract # 196 - Poster Presentation
    • Presenting results that demonstrate the measurement of an online mass spectrometry monitor to detect contaminants from compressed air
    • Commonly used in industrial manufacturing processes
  • Low-cost, Portable Mass Spectrometer for Detection of Geosmin and MIB in Drinking Water
    • Wednesday, Oct. 21st - 10:30 AM - Exhibit Hall Abstract # 154 - Poster Presentation
    • Presenting performance of a low-cost, portable mass spectrometry solution for routine monitoring of geosmin and 2-methyl isoborneol (MIB), two common odor-causing compounds found in surface water during algae blooms
    • Common causes of customer complaints for drinking water utilities
  • Real-Time Monitoring of Airborne Molecular Contamination in Cleanroom Environments
    • Wednesday, Oct. 21st - 11:00 AM - Exhibit Hall Abstract # 146 - Poster Presentation
    • Presenting capabilities of an air-sampling, miniature mass spectrometer-based system for detecting low ppb level concentrations of volatile organic compounds (VOCs)
    • Commonly used in semiconductor manufacturing to identify reduce and avoid damage by airborne molecular contamination (AMC)
  • TGA-MS Analysis of Hydrocarbon Source Rock
    • Wednesday, Oct. 21st - 11:30 AM - Exhibit Hall Abstract # 145 - Poster Presentation
    • Presenting chemical analysis techniques for identifying and quantifying the quality of source rock from exploration activities
    • Applicable to shale plays, which includes 750 trillion cubic feet of shale gas and 24 billion barrels of shale oil according to the U.S. Energy Information Administration

About GCC

The Gulf Coast Conference is a non-profit organization oriented toward the education and advancement of knowledge of Chemical Analysis Technology associated with the Petrochemical, Refining, and Environmental fields, and worked for over 50 years to forward this goal through annual technical meetings, regular communications, and training courses focused on these fields.
