Atwell Hires Christopher R. Rutledge as Vice President, Environmental Services
Consulting, engineering and construction services firm Atwell is pleased
to welcome Christopher R. Rutledge to its team as Vice President,
Environmental Services. With more than 25 years of professional
experience, Rutledge is well known throughout the industry and is a
frequent presenter at energy, utility, and environmental conferences
nationwide. His professional portfolio includes projects in conventional
power, renewable energy, and mining industries in the U.S. and
internationally.
With a technical background in ecology, Rutledge has been involved in
all aspects of environmental consulting, from baseline surveys to
decommissioning and ecological restoration. He has also prepared and
managed Environmental Assessments and Environmental Impact Statements
submitted to a number of federal agencies on behalf of energy and mining
projects.
Most recently, he has applied his expertise by assisting clients with
compliance, specifically with the Endangered Species Act, Migratory Bird
Treaty Act, the Bald and Golden Eagle Protection Act, Section 404 of the
Clean Water Act, and the National Environmental Policy Act. A particular
niche is his wind energy-related avian and bat experience, including the
management of pre-construction baseline and post-construction monitoring
surveys. He regularly manages surveys of aerial raptor nests and for
special status species, and he develops and implements mitigation
protection measures for eagle conservation plans, habitat conservation
plans, and bird and bat conservation strategies. He has also led
ecological risk assessments, closures, reclamations/restorations, and
monitoring assignments at former mining sites.
Rutledge joins Atwell from Environmental Resources Management (ERM)
where he was a Partner focused on Impact Assessment and Planning, and he
previously served as Vice President in the Highlands Ranch office of
Arcadis. Rutledge’s ascent through management positions for other global
consulting firms has given him the leadership acumen Atwell seeks for
its Environmental Services business unit.
“The combination of Chris’ biological expertise and his vast experience
across the energy and mining sectors will assist in elevating our
position in the marketplace,” said Atwell Chief Operating Office, Dan
McNulty. “We already have a great team, but we never settle. With Chris’
leadership, we have yet another asset to help support our clients and
their growth.”
Atwell, LLC is a national consulting, engineering and construction
services firm with offices throughout the country that deliver a broad
range of strategic and creative solutions to clients in three core
markets: real estate and land development; power and energy; and oil and
gas. They provide comprehensive turnkey services including land and ROW
