This week’s Baker Hughes rig count shows that U.S. numbers declined by 21, resulting in the total count falling to 830.  Canada increased over last week as well by 4 rigs, resulting in a total Canadian count of 147.

Breakdown by region

Of the regions tracked by Baker Hughes, only two regions saw an increase; the Eagle Ford basin saw an increase of 3 rigs this week, from 60 to 63, along with the Mississippian increase of 1 rig this week, from 2 to 3

Meanwhile, only 6 regions experienced a decrease this week:

  • The Ardmore Woodford is at 1 rig, down 1 from last week;
  • The Cana Woodford is at 28, down 2 from last week;
  • The Granite Wash is at 1 rig, down 1 from last week;
  • The Marcellus is at 42, down 2 from last week;
  • The Permian is at 417, down 5 from last week, and
  • The Williston is at 53, down 2 from last week.

All other regions saw no net change in the active rig count.
