U.S. Rig Count drops 11, down to 806 rigs

This week’s Baker Hughes rig count shows that U.S. numbers declined by 11, resulting in the total count falling to 806 rigs.  Canada decreased over last week as well by 6 rigs, resulting in a total Canadian count of 134 rigs.

Breakdown by region

Of the regions tracked by Baker Hughes, two regions saw an increase this week; the Mississippian basin saw an increase of 1 rig this week, and the Utica 2 rigs from from 11 to 13.

Meanwhile, 6 regions experienced a decrease this week:

  • The Ardmore Woodford is at 0, down 1 from last week.
  • The Cana Woodford is at 28, down 1 from last week.
  • The DJ-Niobrara is at 21, down 1 from last week.
  • The Marcellus is at 37, down 3 from last week.
  • The Permian is at 408, down 4 from last week.
  • The Williston is at 51, down 1 from last week.

All other regions saw no net change in the active rig count.
