U.S. rig count decreased by 5, is at 588

This week’s Baker Hughes Rig Count shows that the U.S. decreased by 5  last week, resulting in a total count of 588 rigs. Canada decreased by 2 over last week, resulting in a total Canadian count of 216 rigs.

Breakdown by region

Of the regions tracked by Baker Hughes, the Eagle Ford and the Permian experienced an increase this week.

Meanwhile, 2 regions experienced a decrease this week:

• The Granite Wash is down 1,  at 19.
• The Haynesville is down 2, at 57.

All other regions saw no net change in the active rig count.
