Bracewell Adds Trial Partner David A. Super to Washington, D.C. Office; Fourth Significant Addition in Three Months Continues Growth and Momentum in Washington

HOUSTON, July 11, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- Bracewell LLP is pleased to announce that David A. Super has joined the firm as a partner to lead its civil litigation practice in Washington, D.C. Super joins Bracewell from Baker Botts where he practiced for 27 years.

Super's addition adds depth to an already nationally recognized litigation team. In 2016, Law360 named Bracewell to the inaugural list of "Litigation Powerhouses" identifying it as one of the top-50 litigation practices in the nation. The publication further highlighted the firm as one of an "elite group" of only five firms in the nation with fewer than 200 litigation lawyers included on its list of "litigation heavyweights." In May of this year, Chambers USA called the team a "fast-growing litigation bench with a reputation for creative approaches to disputes both before and in trial for a range of major corporate clients." In addition, Legal 500 United States named Bracewell to its list of nationally ranked disputes practices, noting that the team is "particularly well-versed in defending oil and gas industry clients in commercial and royalty disputes." This list of recognitions culminated in the firm being named the "2017 Litigation Section of the Year" by Texas Lawyer last week.

"David is a highly regarded litigator with decades of experience in environmental, banking and other government related disputes," said Bracewell's Managing Partner Gregory M. Bopp. "We are pleased to welcome David to the firm and our nationally recognized trial practice."

Super is the most recent strategic addition to Bracewell's Washington, D.C. office in the last three months. In March, Robert J. Wagman, Jr. joined as a partner to help lead the firm's government contracts practice. In early April, Hans P. Dyke joined as a partner adding transactional depth to the firm's energy, electric power and midstream practices and shortly thereafter, Christine G. Wyman returned to the firm as senior counsel in its Policy Resolution Group adding significant industry, legislative and regulatory expertise in energy and environmental policy.

Super handles complex commercial litigation in federal and state courts throughout the country. His broad experience in the manufacturing, energy and banking industries includes a wide-array of disputes in addition to defense of environmental actions, defense of class actions, allegations of fraud and other business torts, breach of contract, energy issues and constitutional takings.

Mark K. Lewis, managing partner of the firm's Washington, D.C. office added, "David and I began our careers together and worked with each other for almost two decades. I know firsthand that David is a top quality trial lawyer. In every respect – experience, practice skills, demeanor, culture – David will be a fantastic addition to our office and our firm."

"David is a great courtroom lawyer and an extraordinary addition to our national trial practice," said Stephen B. Crain, the firm-wide chair of Bracewell's litigation practice. "As the leader of our Washington trial practice, David will also be a great advocate for our clients in disputes with the government."

With more than 24 years of experience representing the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation and the former Resolution Trust Corporation, Super has substantial experience in banking issues, receivership issues, regulation of financial institutions, the interpretation of statutes and agency regulations and principles of administrative law.

"I am excited to join a team of top-notch trial lawyers and a firm with a strategy to grow its presence in the Washington market," said Super. "Bracewell's trial practice philosophy, approach and strategy provides the perfect fit for my practice to thrive handling the types of cases I enjoy and where I have extensive experience."

Super earned his undergraduate degree from the University of Maryland in 1986 and his J.D. in 1990 from the University of Maryland School of Law where he was Order of the Coif.
