No further purchases of diesel, gasoline or natural gas-fueled buses for public transit after 2028
The California Air Resources Board (CARB) has made a move that eliminates the use of natural gas-powered buses to lower emissions for the state’s public transit fleets. The clean, low emissions CNG buses that are being adopted by other transit systems in the U.S. will be eliminated as an emissions-reducing transit option anywhere in California by a new regulation that sets a statewide goal for public transit agencies to make a gradual transition to 100 percent zero-emission bus fleets by 2040.
