Callon Petroleum Company Announces Commencement of Public Offering of Common Stock

NATCHEZ, Miss., Sept. 8, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- Callon Petroleum Company (NYSE: CPE) ("Callon" or the "Company") announced today the commencement of an underwritten public offering of 12,500,000 shares of its common stock, subject to market and other conditions. In connection with the offering, the Company has granted the underwriters a 30-day option to purchase up to an additional 1,875,000 shares of common stock.

Callon intends to use the net proceeds from this offering, together with borrowings under a planned new senior secured second lien term loan, to fund its previously announced pending acquisition of oil and gas properties in the Permian Basin (the "Pending Acquisition"). To the extent the Pending Acquisition is not consummated, the Company intends to use the net proceeds to fund a portion of its exploration and development activities and for general corporate purposes, which may include leasehold interest and property acquisitions, repayment of indebtedness and working capital.
