Cheniere Partners With the D10 to Showcase Houston’s Athleticism, Philanthropy

Athletic contest attracts executive athletes to train and compete in NFL Combine-style contest to fund pediatric cancer research at MD Anderson Cancer Center

HOUSTON, May 15, 2018 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- After leading Houston’s energy industry in 2016 and 2017 at The D10, Cheniere Energy is putting its stamp on the national athletic contest responsible for raising $10.3M+ for pediatric cancer research.

Cheniere (NYSE:LNG), the leading U.S. exporter of liquefied natural gas, has formally partnered with The D10 – a national tour that concludes in November in Houston – to support MD Anderson Cancer Center. As a sponsor of The D10 Houston, Cheniere once again finds itself in a leadership position.

“The D10's community-minded athletes exemplify the strength and perseverance of kids who are battling pediatric cancer, and the doctors and researchers who seek the medical breakthroughs needed to find cures to cancer,” said Jack Fusco, President and CEO of Cheniere. “As the top fundraising team from last year's Houston D10, Cheniere is excited to keep the momentum going by officially partnering with The D10 to show Houston's heart."

Founded in 2008 in New York City as a casual competition among friends, The D10 has grown into a national athletic tour featuring “executive athletes” representing 700+ energy, real estate, technology, professional and financial services companies.

“We are a Houston-based company. Houston is home. To partner with such a respected company as Cheniere moves us another step closer to making Houston our flagship market,” notes Dave Maloney, Founder of The D10. “Despite Hurricane Harvey, last year’s D10 saw participation and fundraising grow. 2018 is our inflection point. Houston can more than hold its own athletically and philanthropically with the likes of New York, San Francisco and Chicago. The time to show it is now and with Cheniere’s leadership, that goal can become a reality.”

In addition to participants from Cheniere, Houston-area companies Vinson + Elkins, Norton Rose, White Deer Energy, Marathon Oil, Carrizo Oil & Gas, Post Oak Energy Capital, Apache, U.S. Capitol Advisors, Trafigura, Willkie Farr, First Reserve, and numerous others field four-person teams to compete in an NFL Combine-style contest that uses a performance-based online pledging system to super-charge The D10’s philanthropic impact and create a unique spectator experience.

Cheniere is the leading exporter of U.S. liquefied natural gas. Cheniere is currently operating and constructing its Sabine Pass LNG facility in Louisiana and is constructing a second liquefaction facility near Corpus Christi, Texas. When both projects are complete, Cheniere is expected to be a top-5 global supplier of LNG.
