Chevron North America Exploration and Production Co. President Jeff Shellebarger To Be Honored as International Citizen of the Year

HOUSTON, Feb. 12, 2019 /PRNewswire/ -- The World Affairs Council of Greater Houston is proud to announce that Jeff Shellebarger, President of Chevron North America Exploration and Production Co., is being recognized as its 2019 International Citizen of the Year. Mr. Shellebarger will be presented this award at the 21st Annual Jesse H. Jones Award Luncheon on April 17th at The Post Oak Hotel in Houston, Texas.

"Jeff has enhanced our international city through his enormous contributions during his time with Chevron. He is a remarkable leader and valuable contributor to Houston's success," said Maryanne Maldonado, CEO of the World Affairs Council of Greater Houston.

Shellebarger is responsible for Chevron's oil and gas exploration and production operations in the United States and Canada. He previously served as the Managing Director of Chevron's IndoAsia business unit; the Executive Director of Chevron Pacific Indonesia; General Manager of Asset Development for Chevron's Southern Africa strategic business unit; and General Manager of Asset Development for Chevron North America's San Joaquin Valley strategic business unit. During Shellebarger's 37-year career with Chevron, he has held leadership and technical positions that span the upstream value chain: business development, exploration, technology, asset development and production opera­tions. He earned his bachelor's and master's degrees in Geol­ogy from the University of Georgia.

Each year, the World Affairs Council of Greater Houston honors a business or public leader who, in the spirit of Jesse and Mary Gibbs Jones, contributes to the international spirit of the region. Past recipients include: Jeff Miller, President and CEO of Halliburton, James A. Baker, 61st Secretary of State; and Jeff Immelt, former chairman and CEO of General Electric.

Council-affiliated students and educators will be in attendance at the luncheon as honored guests, and two exemplary students will be awarded scholarships. Following the lunch, the students and educators will attend a private program with Mr. Shellebarger to learn about his career and have the opportunity to ask questions.
