Chevron Phillips to have 30% stake in new petrochemical plant
Chevron Phillips Chemical Company LLC - equally owned by Chevron Corporation and Phillips 66 - and Qatar Petroleum (QP) have inked a deal for the development, construction and operation of a new petrochemicals complex in Qatar.

The facility, to be built in Ras Laffan Industrial City, will produce ethylene and high-density polyethylene. It is expected to have a 1,900 KTA ethane cracker, the largest in the Middle East, and two high-density polyethylene derivative units with a combined capacity of 1,680 KTA.

In total, the project is expected to raise Qatar’s current polyethylene production level 82% by Q4 2025.
