Clean Energy Corporate Summit Draws National Leaders To Denver Next Month

DENVER, Oct. 5, 2017 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Leaders from well-known national companies and organizations reaping the benefits of clean energy are among the speakers coming to Denver in November for the inaugural Clean Energy Means Business Corporate Summit.

Energy managers and leaders from Facebook, New Belgium Brewing, General Motors, Golden Aluminum, IBM, Kaiser Permanente, Colorado State University System, and Citigroup will share their experiences with attendees at the workshop and summit November 7-8 at History Colorado Center in downtown Denver.

Increasing numbers of prominent corporations-along with leading local organizations -  are turning to clean energy to lower operating costs and effectively utilize tax benefits while also gaining recognition for meeting sustainability goals. The inaugural Summit will present a comprehensive approach to procuring corporate clean energy.

Presented by the Colorado Solar Energy Industries Association (COSEIA), the Summit is intended to help businesses, governments and non-profits in the Rocky Mountain region understand their options.

"We wanted to bring together leaders from around the country and region with the expertise to help our regional businesses learn what they need in a condensed program,'' said Cynthia Christensen, a COSEIA board member who is serving as the event chair.

Clean Energy Means Business starts Nov. 7 with an afternoon workshop designed to provide understanding of basic renewable energy topics. A full-day Summit on November 8 will offer sessions on topics designed to provide practical understanding of the financial, business, technical, and public-facing aspects of clean energy solutions.

The Summit will kick off with a keynote from the Executive Vice Chancellor of the Colorado State University System, Amy Parsons, and panel of clean energy visionaries including:

  • Mike Eckhart, Managing Director, Global Head of Environmental Finance and Sustainability, Citi
  • Laureen V. Smith, General Motors
  • Christine Perich, New Belgium Brewing Company
  • Clayton Mitchell, Kaiser Permanente

In addition to corporate leaders, the Summit will feature leaders in clean energy development including:

  • Jesse Grossman, CEO of solar power developer Soltage
  • Chris Roetheli, Business Development Officer at US Bancorp's Community Development Corporation
  • Keith Martin, a partner in the Washington D. C. office of Norton Rose Fulbright who heads a projects group that did $53.5 billion in financings in the last two years.

"Colorado has been a leading state for clean energy and has recently fallen in the ranks. As other states double down on policies that enable businesses to lower their operating costs with clean energy solutions, while creating local jobs and economic development, it's important that we bring leaders in our region together to further opportunities for commercial and industrial deployments,'' said COSEIA board president Taylor Henderson. "The Summit is designed to create a forum for these large energy customers better understand all the benefits of leveraging clean energy.''
