Clearsign Combustion +7.20% Secures Multi-Phase Contract With Major Canadian Oil Company

Clearsign Combustion (CLIR), a combustion system solutions provider, continues to demonstrate promising growth with its groundbreaking combustion technologies. Headquartered in Seattle, Washington, Clearsign's technology, according to their official website, “is aimed at solving the greatest challenge facing the energy industry today: capital intensive emissions control requirements which reduce process throughput, consume energy, complicate design and destroy profits.” By enhancing combustion systems, the company’s technologies provides cost-effective solutions across a number of industries, including, among others, chemical, refinery, and power.

The company’s technology portfolio includes:

  • Duplex™ Technology, which improves combustion flame pattern and prevents the formation of NOx and CO.
  • Electrodynamic Combustion Control™, which provides a computer-controlled electrostatic force manipulation of flames and surrounding gas.

While building an impressive technology portfolio certainly doesn’t hurt, Clearsign is also setting themselves apart by securing major contracts. The company is up 7.20% following the news that a major Canadian oil producer has awarded Clearsign a multi-phase contract.

Per the agreement, which begins with a design and engineering phase, Clearsign will fully engineer its Duplex™ technology for the Canadian company’s oil field once-through steam generators (OTSG). "This agreement is similar to previously announced projects where the operator is seeking to validate ClearSign's technology," said Stephen Pirnat, Chairman and CEO of ClearSign. "We look forward to completing a successful design and showcasing Duplex's unique capabilities for the first time in the Western Canadian oil sands, which is an addressable market of several hundred OTSGs."

Furthermore, just last month, the company reported a number of positive developments upon the release of its Q4 and year end 2015 reports. Highlights from these reports include:

  • Receiving an order for Duplex Technology for installation in Wellhead Enclosed Flares.
  • Securing an evaluation agreement with Tesoro Refining and Marketing, LLC.
  • Conducting on-going fieldwork at two OTSG Sites and two refinery sites.

"2015 was a transformative year for ClearSign as we moved from development into commercial installations," said Pirnat. "Our focus for the days ahead is on our site demonstrations that include various applications of our Duplex™ technology. We believe that continued execution of these demonstrations will transition to greater validation and broader industry acceptance. We currently have seven field test projects with four in the fieldwork phase and three are in design phase. The key is to achieve steady state operational success in a manner that satisfies our customers. We believe these demonstrations will provide the impetus for commercial adoption within our target, and potentially ancillary industries, as well as enhanced support from environmental regulatory bodies.”

When researching investment opportunities, one may come across companies that are truly developing something extraordinary. Particularly in the science and technology based sectors, companies, like Clearsign, are bringing the business world one step closer to the future. Through its groundbreaking combustion technology portfolio, the company is not only an intriguing investment opportunity; the company aims to set the bar in the boiler solutions market.
