NORWICH, Conn., Aug. 27, 2018 /PRNewswire/ -- Connecticut Municipal Electric Energy Cooperative (CMEEC) CEO Drew Rankin will be speaking later this week at the Active Communications International's West Coast Conference on Microgrids. "At CMEEC, we pride ourselves in delivering sustained lower-cost energy solutions," said Rankin. "We are passionate about the application of microgrids for improved system energy efficiency and reliability, and I'm looking forward to educating conference attendees on our work, and the benefits of microgrids as a whole."

Rankin's presentation is timely. Just last month, CMEEC and its partners broke ground on a 7.4 megawatt (MW) fuel cell park at Naval Submarine Base (SUBASE) New London in Groton, Conn. The Navy selected CMEEC as the most qualified to develop the project following a competitive solicitation and review process.

"It's projects such as the Navy SUBASE fuel cell micro-grid that enable our customers and partners to determine how and when to allocate resources to ensure cost-effective power delivery to critical infrastructure," said Rankin. "This ultimately adds resilience and energy independence, which is ideal for all parties involved.

Rankin's 37 years of experience in the energy utility business encompass plant operations and maintenance, engineering, plant management, portfolio management, merger and acquisitions, business and project development and change management for both investor owned and public power utilities. He holds bachelor's degrees in both Electrical Engineering and Industrial Engineering from Northern Kentucky University. Additionally, he possesses certifications from Cornell Johnson School of Management and MIT Sloan School of Management.
