Comverge IntelliCONNECT Helps Utilities Easily Deploy Bring Your Own Device Demand Management Programs

Cloud-Based Software Enables Seamless Aggregation of Consumer-Purchased Wi-Fi Connected Devices Into Demand Response and Energy Efficiency Programs

NORCROSS, GA--(Marketwired - February 02, 2016) - Comverge, Inc., the leading provider of cloud-based demand response and energy efficiency solutions for electric utilities, today announced new IntelliCONNECT software that gives utilities a platform to deploy bring your own device (BYOD) demand response and energy efficiency programs. The IntelliCONNECT cloud-based software enables utilities to easily include BYOD in new or existing demand response and energy efficiency programs. IntelliCONNECT is completely integrated with Comverge IntelliSOURCE demand response management system to give utilities a single platform for managing both direct install and BYOD devices across residential and small to mid-sized business customers.

"Bring your own device is now a mandatory component of a demand management program and IntelliCONNECT enables electric utilities to easily distill high-quality, predictable megawatts from a wide variety of Wi-Fi connected devices within a service territory," said Gregory J. Dukat, Comverge Chairman, President and CEO. "BYOD programs can help utilities stay relevant with customers by providing them with increased choice and value-added services. Our new IntelliCONNECT cloud-based software enables utilities to offer both demand response and energy efficiency programs for third-party device owners."

IntelliCONNECT enables utilities to:

  • Easily distill high-quality, predictable megawatts from a wide variety of Wi-Fi connected devices within a service territory
  • Establish a secure connection with devices from numerous vendors without requiring multiple ad-hoc integration projects
  • Forecast and dispatch diverse devices taking into account different device capabilities, program restrictions, and equipment behavior
  • Manage asset lifecycle including marketing, enrollment, branding, and settlement

"Our pioneering Energy Select price-based demand response program has been a tremendous success for Gulf Power in terms of reducing generation needs, better using existing capacity, and enhancing customer satisfaction and value," said Caroline Wilson, Energy Select Team Lead, Gulf Power. "We are very excited to work with Comverge on adding a BYOD approach to Energy Select in order to drive improved program cost-effectiveness and expand the reach of the program to customers in our service territory with Wi-Fi connected thermostats."

Demand response and energy efficiency programs that utilize a bring your own device (BYOD) approach to include devices already in a customer's premise benefits utilities and customers alike. Utilities can expand demand response capacity with lower marketing and installation costs, while also engaging with their customers about energy efficiency. Customers benefit from comfort, convenience and energy savings with a device that they chose to purchase in addition to the financial incentives of utility demand response and energy efficiency program participation.

Continued Dukat, "Our marketing expertise, having enrolled more than two million customers into demand management programs, helps us enable a smooth transition for customers adding BYOD to their programs. And our direct install business complements a BYOD program, enabling utilities to create load at scale with one vendor, on one software platform."

In addition to today's announcement, Comverge also announced IntelliCONNECT integration with Honeywell and Pro1 thermostats.
