Dorsey Adds Commercial Litigation Veteran Louisiana Cutler in Anchorage

International law firm Dorsey & Whitney LLP announced today that Louisiana (“Louann”) W. Cutler has joined the Firm’s Trial Group in Anchorage, Alaska, as a Partner.

Ms. Cutler has over 25 years of experience as a litigator focusing on complex litigation involving environmental issues, oil and gas taxation and royalties, constitutional law, construction law, municipal law, and other issues. She has litigated matters in Alaska trial and appellate courts, as well as administrative hearings and arbitrations. She advises on oil and gas taxation, royalties, required Alaska government approvals, lease issues, acquisitions, and other oil and gas transactions as well as constitutional law, legislation, ordinances, municipal, employment and other Alaska law issues. She has been involved in a series of administrative and court appeals on large oil and gas tax matters.

Ms. Cutler joins Dorsey from the K&L Gates law firm, where she was a partner practicing primarily in that firm’s complex commercial litigation and disputes practice. Before joining K&L Gates in 1990, Ms. Cutler worked as special legislative assistant to Alaska State Representative (later Senator) Al Adams from 1982 to 1987, during which time Adams served as Chair of the House Finance Committee of the Alaska State Legislature.

Ms. Cutler has a B.A. degree from Yale University and a J.D. degree from Northeastern University School of Law. She has been recognized by Chambers USA and Best Lawyers in America® (in municipal law and litigation) and as a Benchmark Top 250 Women Litigators in the United States. She is a member of Commonwealth North, various sections of the Alaska Bar Association, the Alaska Municipal League and the Alaska Municipal Attorneys Association. In the past, she has served on non-profit boards, including the United Way of Anchorage and Abused Women’s Aid in Crisis (AWAIC).
