Elsevier Publishes Seven New Neuroscience Book Titles Including Brain Mapping Encyclopedia

Brain Mapping: An Encyclopedic Reference Offers Broad Overview of Neuroimaging Concepts With Applications Across the Neurosciences and Biomedical Research

WALTHAM, MA--(Marketwired - March 12, 2015) - Elsevier, a world-leading provider of scientific, technical and medical information products and services, today announced the publication of the comprehensive new title, Brain Mapping: An Encyclopedic Reference, edited by Dr. Arthur Toga. In addition, six neuroscience books on subjects ranging from cognitive enhancement and the human auditory system to epilepsy and brain tumors are also newly published.

With more than 300 articles and a media rich environment, Brain Mapping provides extensive coverage of the methods and systems involved in brain mapping. The encyclopedia also fully links the data to disease, for example, presenting side-by-side maps of healthy and diseased brains for direct comparisons, and offers data sets and fully annotated color images. Each entry is built on a layered approach of the content -- basic information for those new to the area and more detailed material for experienced readers. This work includes authoritative, easily searchable content available with cross referencing across articles, and can be used as a one-stop reference for students, researchers and teaching faculty.

Brain Mapping was edited by Dr. Arthur Toga, Director of the Laboratory of Neuro Imaging and Director of the Institute of Neuroimaging and Informatics at the Keck School of Medicine of University of Southern California. He is also Provost Professor in the Departments of Ophthalmology, Neurology, Psychiatry, and the Behavioral Sciences, Radiology and Engineering. Trained in neuroscience and computer science, Dr. Toga has written more than 1,000 papers, chapters and abstracts -- including eight books -- and is the founding editor-in-chief of Elsevier's journal NeuroImage.

The seven new neuroscience books are:

The books are available on the Elsevier Store and on ScienceDirect, Elsevier's full-text scientific database offering journal articles and book chapters from over 2,500 peer-reviewed journals and more than 33,000 book titles.
