QEP Resources Breakout Notes

Richard Doleshek, executive vice president and CFO of QEP Resources, Inc., (ticker: QEP) presented today at EnerCom’s The Oil & Gas Conference® 22.

QEP Resources is a Denver-headquartered E&P company that has acreage in the Williston basin, Pinedale anticline, Uinta basin, Permian basin, and Haynesville shale. The majority of its activity is taking place in the Permian basin, with some rigs operational in its Williston and Pinedale assets.’

QEP Energy Company, a subsidiary of QEP Resources, is purchasing Permian acreage for $732 million—approximately 13,800 net acres in Martin County, TX. The company’s Permian production rose to 21.2 MBOEPD. QEP sold its Pinedale anticline assets in SW Wyoming for $777.5 million in July.  The company’s total production for Q2, 2017 was 13,860.6 MBOE.

During the company’s breakout session, management was asked the following questions:

  • How to do you compare to Whiting?

  • What kind of density assumptions have you made?
  • How do you go about drilling the tank pads? What if you want to go to back to a location you have already drilled at?
