E&Ps, oilfield technology companies present to a full house at EnerCom conference

EnerCom’s 22nd The Oil & Gas Conference® Opens

The 22nd annual edition of EnerCom’s The Oil & Gas Conference® began today in Denver.

The 22nd annual edition of EnerCom’s The Oil & Gas Conference® opened today. The conference was introduced by EnerCom CEO Glen Parrott whose presentation took a look at the quick reaction by the oil and gas industry to the forces of change affecting the industry since 2014—with fast adaptation and innovation leading the way toward profitability in a new world of sub-$50 oil.

Parrott is part of EnerCom’s new ownership group which also includes EnerCom President Ken Caiani and CFO Blanca Andrus.

Range Resources (ticker: RRC) CEO Jeff Ventura, Core Lab (ticker: CLB) CEO David Demshur and Cabot Oil & Gas (ticker: COG) CFO Scot Schroeder led off a full day of public company presentations in front of approximately 400 institutional investors.

On the theme of innovation, Core Lab CEO David Demshur discussed the initiatives at Core Lab to use engineered gases to increase the average recovery rate from approximately 9% to a range of 12% to 15%.

“Our goal is to make what appears to be unmovable oil movable,” Demshur told the EnerCom audience. Demshur said Core is strongly advocating the use of EOR in unconventional plays from the very beginning of production. EOR, or enhanced oil recovery, is a technique more often associated with extending the life of older vertical plays for wells near the end of production. Core believes that EOR will make a significant difference for unconventional plays in flattening the decline curve and creating much improved EURs. Shale wells are known for having steep declines, but Core Lab and other technology firms are inventing new methods and unique equipment to study reservoirs and develop new technologies and chemistries designed to lengthen the productive life of horizontal wells in shale and tight oil and gas plays.

David Demshur, CEO of Core Laboratories, talked fwith Oil & Gas 360’s Angie Austin at the EnerCom conference about using engineered gases to enhance production from shale and other unconventional oil plays.

In an interview with Oil & Gas 360® today, Demshur said his company’s tech development team will put the spotlight on three of Core’s production enhancement technologies at EnerCom’s Oilfield Tech & Innovation Day, which is at the Denver Downtown Westin hotel on Thursday August 17.

Other presenters for the 2017 conference’s opening morning included Jagged Peak Energy, PDC Energy, Whiting Petroleum, Sanchez Energy, Bill Barrett Corp. and Credit Agricole CIB.

The conference mood was upbeat throughout the day with presenters delivering repeated emphasis on technology developments that are helping drive production increases across the basins.
