From CityWire

Goldman Sachs Asset Management’s former head of emerging market equity and Citywire AA-rated manager, Prashant Khemka, has returned to the fund industry with his own boutique.

The new group will be called White Oak Capital and consists of 15 people based across Mumbai and Singapore.

Speaking to Citywire Selector, Khemka said he would be launching an Indian equity fund for domestic and offshore investors, which is set to receive approval in either July or August.

Khemka said it would run a ‘much more concentrated’ portfolio of stocks than the Goldman Sachs India Equity fund, which he ran as sole lead for the past decade before his departure.

He stepped down from the asset management firm in April, which prompted several changes within the company’s emerging markets unit.

This saw Sam Finkelstein, who was previously head of emerging market debt, move to the newly created global head of emerging markets post. Basak Yavuz and Hiren Dasani were also promoted to new senior roles.
