FirstEnergy Announces Senior Management Changes

Supports Transition to Fully Regulated Utility, Broadens Experience of Key Executives

AKRON, Ohio, Feb. 20, 2018 /PRNewswire/ -- FirstEnergy Corp. (NYSE: FE) today announced management changes that are designed to support its transition to a fully regulated utility company and broaden the experience of key executives.

The changes involve nine leaders in Finance, FirstEnergy Utilities, Human Resources and FirstEnergy Solutions.  The moves include James F. Pearson to executive vice president, Finance, Steven E. Strah to senior vice president and chief financial officer, and Samuel L. Belcher to senior vice president and president, FirstEnergy Utilities.

Jones, president and chief executive officer of FirstEnergy.  "These changes will strengthen our succession planning and ensure that we continue to meet our commitments to our customers and the investment community."

In the Finance organization, Pearson, currently executive vice president and chief financial officer, becomes executive vice president, Finance, reporting to Jones.  Pearson will retain responsibility for the finance organization while focusing on his role as a member of the Restructuring Working Group and the head of FirstEnergy Tomorrow – two projects related to the company's transition to a fully regulated utility.  Pearson began his career at the company's Pennsylvania Power utility in 1976, and has been chief financial officer since 2013. 

Strah, currently senior vice president and president, FirstEnergy Utilities, becomes senior vice president and chief financial officer, reporting to Pearson.  He will oversee Accounting, Corporate Risk, Internal Auditing, Investor Relations and Treasury.  Strah began his career with The Illuminating Company in 1984 and has specialized in regional operations.  He has been in his current position since 2015.

Jason J. Lisowski, controller and treasurer, FirstEnergy Solutions, becomes vice president, controller and chief accounting officer, reporting to Strah.  Lisowski will be responsible for the controller, tax, and accounting functions across FirstEnergy.  He joined the company in 2004 and was named to his current position in 2017.

In FirstEnergy Utilities, Belcher, currently president and chief nuclear officer, FirstEnergy Nuclear Operating Company (FENOC), becomes senior vice president and president, FirstEnergy Utilities, reporting to Jones.  Belcher will be responsible for FirstEnergy's 10 regulated electric utility operating companies, the company's transmission assets and investments, distribution support, customer service and compliance and regulated services.  Belcher is a 25-year veteran of the utility industry, primarily focused on nuclear operations.  He has been chief nuclear officer since December 2015.

K. Jon Taylor, vice president, controller and chief accounting officer, becomes president of Ohio Operations, including Ohio Edison, the Illuminating Company and Toledo Edison, reporting to Mark Julian, vice president, utility operations.  Taylor joined FirstEnergy in 2009 from PricewaterhouseCoopers, LLP.  He was named to his current position in 2013.

In Human Resources, Charles D. Lasky, senior vice president, Human Resources, has been named senior vice president, Human Resources, and chief human resources officer.  He retains overall responsibility for the human resources function across FirstEnergy, and continues reporting to Jones.  Lasky joined the company in 1986, and was named to his current position in 2015.

Christine L. Walker, executive director, talent management, becomes vice president, Human Resources, reporting to Lasky.  Walker will have responsibility for the HR business partners, learning and development, organizational effectiveness, diversity and inclusion, recruiting, employee relations, human resources compliance, and health and absence management.  She joined GPU, a predecessor of FirstEnergy, in 1985, and was named to her current position in 2016.

In FirstEnergy Solutions (FES), Donald A. Moul, president, FirstEnergy Generation, becomes president, FES Generation Companies and chief nuclear officer.  He will have expanded responsibility for nuclear operations, engineering and fleet regulatory affairs, in addition to continued oversight of the fossil fleet, fuel and unit dispatch.  He will report to Donald R. Schneider, president, FES.  Moul joined the company in 2004 and was named to his current position in 2017. 

Kevin T. Warvell, vice president, commercial operations structuring and pricing, FES, becomes vice president, chief financial officer, treasurer and corporate secretary, FES, reporting to Schneider.  Warvell joined the company in 2001 and was promoted to his current position in 2011.

The changes involving Lisowski, Taylor and Warvell are effective March 4, while the changes involving Belcher, Lasky, Moul, Pearson, Strah and Walker are effective March 5.
