Global Media Stocks: A Tipping Point for Electric Cars (and Their Charging Stations)

ORLANDO, FL / ACCESSWIRE / May 10, 2017 / In the legendary book, "The Tipping Point," author Malcolm Gladwell explains the title's mantra. "The tipping point is that magic moment when an idea, trend, or social behavior crosses a threshold, tips, and spreads like wildfire."

According to a recent article in Bloomberg, that moment may be much nearer for Electric Vehicles (EV), and that bodes well for companies staking their claim in the electric car revolution, like Lot78, Inc. (OTC PINK: LOTE) and its compelling business model built around mobile electric car recharging stations called "Juice Bars."

The Bloomberg report is intriguing as the forecast for rapid electric car growth comes not from a massive EV producer, but rather from one of the world's largest oil producers, Total SA, who believes that electric car growth will increase so significantly that oil consumption could be in decline by 2030. While that sounds like a long time away, that date is closer to us than 9/11 is behind us.

The complete article is certainly worth a read: https://bloom.bg/2q1PhqY.

A few bullets worth noting from the Bloomberg report:

  • EVs may constitute almost a third of new-car sales by the end of the next decade.
  • The surge in battery powered vehicles will cause demand for oil-based fuels to peak in the 2030s.

More electric vehicles, as predicted by a massive oil company, certainly speaks to a rapidly expanding market opportunity for companies set to service these rides. Juice Bar's flexible charging stations and co-branding opportunities do seem like a better mousetrap idea.

As compelling as the oil forecast might be for EV's, a note on the U.S. Department of Energy's official site gives a similarly bullish outlook at an electric, juiced-up future for cars:

"This summer, many Americans will get behind the wheel for a summer road trip. Part of that tradition includes stocking up on one's favorite snacks and sodas while refueling at a gas station. But instead of a gas station, imagine a future where snack runs happen at an electric vehicle (EV) charging station. That future could be closer than you think." (Source: http://bit.ly/2pW9i4k)

While that quote was written in 2016 during a different administration, it certainly adds fuel to the electric car fire and the notion that electric cars and the market for ancillary products, like Lot78's charging stations, could be rolling ever closer to Mr. Gladwell's tipping point.
