HDC is utilizing compressed natural gas (CNG) in 43% of its vehicle fleet. HDC's choice of CNG is important because it is a much cleaner fuel than dirty diesel and it displaces foreign oil by using more of America's own natural gas reserves.
HDC is a pioneer in reducing air emissions in the local delivery service sector in Houston with a fleet of CNG heavy and light duty trucks & vans. They utilize 130 low emission CNG vehicles to deliver MillerCoors brands, imported beer and craft labels to retailers, restaurants and local bars throughout Greater Houston.

Currently, HDC uses 700,000 gallons of CNG a year reducing 700 tons of Nitrogen Oxide (NOx) Gas in 2017. NOx is a compound that contributes to the production of the ozone that produces the brown haze above the city. Since 2014, HDC has used 2,640,000 gallons of CNG and has reduced 2,640 tons of NOx gas.
Houston has the worst air quality in Texas and ranks 11th on the American Lung Association's list of worst polluted cities in the United States. In Houston, 67% of the ozone emissions come from vehicles, especially heavy-duty trucks. CNG vehicles produce 20% less carbon dioxide and 70% less carbon monoxide than diesel or gasoline. Replacing local diesel delivery vehicles with CNG over time will reduce NOx emissions up to 50,000 tons per year. This will enable Houston to achieve ozone attainment status and help us all breathe easier.
