Hoffman Madison Waterfront Awards Champion The Wharf in DC

HOBE SOUND, Fla., Oct. 16, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- Champion Utility Billing Services, a Florida-based company that specializes in advanced sub-metering technology and billing services for utility energy management, is proud to announce it is the new sub-metering provider for The Wharf in Washington, DC.

PN Hoffman, an innovative developer of urban communities across the Washington Metropolitan Area, along with Madison Marquette, an international, DC-based investor, developer and operator of mixed-use real estate, make up The Wharf's development partnership Hoffman-Madison Waterfront (HMW). HMW has chosen Champion to provide all areas of sub-metering for this $2.5 billion project. From installation to customized billing services, Champion will implement an advanced sub-metering package to meet The Wharf's vast energy management requirements.

Comprised of 24 acres of land and 50 acres of water, The Wharf is the largest waterfront development in the country. In addition to being the largest, The Wharf is committed to sustainability. From a cistern system that saves 11 million gallons of water a year by collecting rainwater that is used to cool two of the residential towers and provide irrigation to the site to creating floating wetlands that provide a habitat for marine species and help to clean the water of pollutants, The Wharf will also feature multiple forms of sustainable production and conservation including a co-generation plant, solar panels, and energy-efficient lighting.

At full build-out, there will be 14 signature buildings new residential, office, hotel, retail, cultural, private event, marina, and public spaces, including waterfront parks, piers, and docks. These are linked by a waterside promenade with more than 50 restaurants and shops stretching a mile along the waterfront.

Phase 1 of The Wharf launched on October 12, 2017. Groundbreaking of Phase II is scheduled for mid-2018 and expected to be finished in 2022.
