IEEE Power & Energy Society Begins Offering Spanish-translated Editions of its Award-winning Publication, IEEE Power & Energy Magazine

New initiative for IEEE PES reflects industry’s changing priorities and the magazine’s shift to reach a more global and diverse readership

IEEE, the world's largest technical professional organization dedicated to advancing technology for humanity, today announced that the IEEE Power & Energy Society (PES) is now offering digital Spanish-translated versions of its award-winning bimonthly publication, IEEE Power & Energy Magazine. The magazine is made available to members of IEEE PES at no additional cost.

“The move to offer IEEE Power & Energy Magazine in Spanish is a celebration of its 13+ year history and an effort to reach out to our global member base,” said IEEE PES President Damir Novosel. “I’m excited to help lead this project because it reflects our industry's changing priorities and readership. This is a global effort and I want our society’s namesake magazine to best represent its members, from every corner of the world.”

With this move to better serve the diverse readership to IEEE Power & Energy Magazine, IEEE PES continues to be the leading provider of scientific and engineering information on electric power and energy for the betterment of society, and the preferred professional development source for our members.

Over the next few months, the rollout of the translated magazine will occur in two phases. The first phase will focus on establishing an editorial board and organizing digital distribution for both the September/October and November/December editions the publication. The second phase will focus on working to add localized content to the translated version and expand its editorial influence. Once the Spanish-version of the magazine has been established, IEEE PES will being working to bolster its print and online ad program, specifically to address its Spanish-speaking audience.

“It’s through the combined hard work of the IEEE PES member volunteers and staff that allows us to offer such a reliable and content-rich resource,” said Juan Carlos Montero Quirós, IEEE PES vice president of membership. “We also believe that the translated version of the magazine will improve the way we share information with our Spanish-speaking audience—allowing our readership to grow and creating a valuable regional content resource.”
