Industry Leaders Provide Insight into Where We Go from Here at Pipeline Opportunities Conference
Billions of dollars are being budgeted to overhaul America’s aging
pipeline infrastructure, and an architect of that process will speak at
the 12th annual Pipeline Opportunities Conference March 22nd
at the JW Marriott (Galleria) in Houston.
Jeff Wiese, associate director of the federal Pipeline & Hazardous
Material Safety Administration, will explain what the industry needs to
do to meet toughened safety standards. Congress is preparing to
reauthorize PHMSA’s authority through 2019. Pipeline companies will
spend huge sums upgrading their systems and replacing antiquated pipe.
Operators are also upgrading compressor stations, leak-detection systems
and record-keeping processes.
“There is more work available than most people realize,” said Jeff
Share, conference organizer. “The questions are where will most of the
work be and will there be enough equipment and manpower?”
The conference theme is “Where Do We Go from Here?” and is presented by Pipeline
& Gas Journal, INGAA (Interstate
Natural Gas Association of America), which represents North
America’s pipeline transmission companies and the Maguire Energy
Institute from SMU’s
Cox School of Business.
Another prominent speaker will be Professor Bud Weinstein, associate
director of the Maguire Energy Institute at Southern Methodist
University’s Cox School of Business, who will discuss “The New Economic
Realities of Oil and Gas and Their Impacts on America’s Economy.”
The keynote
speaker will be ExxonMobil economist Rob Gardner who directs the
company’s Energy Outlook through 2040.
A panel of midstream executives representing Kinder Morgan, Boardwalk
Pipeline Partners, LP, and ARB Midstream will detail the challenges and
opportunities facing operating companies in today’s challenging
environment.
Analysts from Genscape Energy Consulting and Nexant will discuss
pipeline construction opportunities and LNG in both the U.S. and Mexico.
Don Santa, president and CEO of the Interstate Natural Gas Association
of America, will offer an insider’s perspective of Washington activities
during this election year.
The Pipeline Opportunities Conference and Pipeline & Gas Journal are
