Personalized, enhanced energy efficiency solutions for all customers

The Pennsylvania Public Utility Commission (PUC) today approved PECO’s plan to bring new innovative energy efficiency solutions to help customers save even more energy and money. The personalized solutions, available beginning June 2016, are part of PECO Smart Ideas, the company’s award-winning suite of energy efficiency and demand response programs for residential and business customers.

“Our customers – both residential and business – have already saved more than $500 million with our programs,” said Liz Murphy, PECO vice president of Governmental and External Affairs. “These new programs, discounts, rebates and online tools will provide even more personalized solutions for our customers, helping them save even more. These innovative solutions really will transform this experience for our customers, providing more help, information and guidance on decisions about how they use energy.”

The comprehensive suite of solutions includes personalized expert energy advice, expanded tools to provide customers even more ways to track their energy use, expanded rebates for high-efficiency appliances, discounts on energy-efficient lighting, and incentives for energy efficient construction.

Since launching in 2009, more than 600,000 customers have participated in PECO Smart Ideas, reducing energy use by more than 2.2 million megawatt hours (MWh), making PECO Smart Ideas the largest and most successful utility-run energy efficiency and demand response programs in Pennsylvania. Part of Pennsylvania Act 129, this third phase of programs is designed to reduce overall customer energy use by 5 percent – or 1,962,659 MWh by May 31, 2021, and will help reduce customer demand for energy by 161 MW during high-use periods.
